PAYING TRIBUTE TO OUR VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers from five regions in Quebec were honoured earlier this month in the five Buffet des Continents restaurants, in recognition of their generous commitment to the community. Their enormous efforts helped to organize many sports and leisure activities, as well as social, cultural and community gatherings in their regions.

“These volunteers share a spirit of humanitarianism and a strong dedication to our communities, and represent the heart and soul of our society. It is thanks to them that we can organize all the events, activities and support that are important for everyone’s well-being,” said Tony Priftakis, spokesperson for the Buffet des Continents restaurant chain.

This tribute evening was presented as part of Volunteer Week in Quebec, and provided the Buffet des Continents with an opportunity to honour the commendable involvement of close to 850 individuals who volunteer in the five regions the restaurants serve.

For the occasion, close to 1,200 volunteers were invited to share a meal with other guests and dignitaries. Special discounts were presented to the volunteers, who were also recognized for their immense dedication to the community by our spokesperson, former professional hockey coach and sports commentator Michel Bergeron, in a special video.

Mr. Bergeron reminded those in attendance of the crucial importance for our society of citizen involvement through volunteering. “In the world of hockey, volunteers have always been the heart and soul of our organizations, and this holds true in communities as well. Volunteers are the backbone of community action. Through their generosity and commitment, volunteers make our societies better places to live and flourish,” commented the well-known spokesperson

Prizes were awarded to honour the exceptional volunteers who stood out among more than 50,000 other volunteers in the regions of Québec, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Gatineau and Mascouche.
